Show Our Teachers We Value Them

Watching the news the past two weeks, between the tragedy in Parkland, Florida and teachers strikes in West Virginia, has made me reflect once again on the role of teachers, how hard they work, how little they are paid, and how invaluable they are to society. The graphic above from BusyTeacher.org says it quite well. Teachers are fundamental to our society.
Jews have always highly valued education. But like the rest of society, teachers in Jewish schools are underpaid, overworked, and often underappreciated.
Once a year, the Milwaukee Jewish Community has an opportunity to show our local teachers just how much we value them. On Sunday, March 11 from 3-4:30 pm at the Harry & Rose Samson JCC, the Coalition for Jewish Learning will host a Salute to Jewish Educators. We will gather to shower our teachers with love and appreciation. It is a chance for us to give back and show appreciation to the teachers who have dedicated their lives to our children. Your presence there will make a difference. Let's fill the room to show them just how much we care.
Please RSVP to www.milwaukeejewish.org/events/educatorrecognition.
